TYPES OF AFRICAN PRINT IN GHANA
The rise in demand and patronage of African print products have increased and continue to increase on a daily basis since the Ex President John Agyekum Kuffour started such education and propagation of such acts during his term in office as president of Ghana.
In recent times, schools, institutions and even certain professions have bought into this idea and have special African print designed for them to wear on selected day of the week mostly Friday.
It is not only used for dresses but for bags and other accessories as well.
Basically there are two main types indigenous of African print fabrics. They are the ones with names locally termed as 'ntoma a 3w) din' in the Asanti Twi language which translates as Fabric that has name and the second one is the opposite.
usually these fabrics have designs that communicate particular information.
Some examples of the fabric with names are, efie abosia, nsubra, ahwedep), ahwene pa nkasa, obaa pa, otan nni akoro, dua kor) gye mframa 3bu, gramofo mpaawa, obaapa, kunu pa, barima nny3 sumye, afe bi 3san, kwadu sa, anibre a 3ns) gya, nkrumah pencil, kongo ahahan among others.

The second type of fabric is 'life ntoma' in the local Asante twi language which translates as Fabric purposely for designing or slaying and not neccesarily to communicate any information.
